The nickel and molybdenum content gives ar400 carbon steel the ability to resist wear better than all other carbon steel. Ar400 f steel plate is formable grade of abrasive resistance steel plate designed to accomodate applications where a life of wear is the primary cause for failure among other grades of steel plate. Certificates with a traceable lot number are available for these products. The base steel around the weld rapidly heats and cools during welding resulting in a heat affected zone haz with high hardness.

Ar400 steel is a high carbon alloy steel that is specifically designed for abrasion and wear resistant applications. Ar400 abrasive resistance steel plate is intended for higher impact wear applications where cold bending and very good weldability is important. As with other abrasion resistant steels it does not have a defined chemistry but rather grade is determined based on hardness. It has a lower hardness of 360 444 bhn.

As a result expect longer lasting wear parts in some of the toughest applications. Ar400 is a quench and tempered steel and may be difficult to weld due its high strength and hardenability. The typical brinell hardness range is 360 444 bhn. A quenched tempered through hardened abrasion resistant grade of steel plate.

Ar400f exhibits an optimal combination of hardness abrasion resistance formability and weldability. The tensalloy ar400 wear resistant steel plate provides greater impact strength than other common heat treated alloys.
